A disc jockey referred me to Alexis. Her wedding is the first salvo of what would turn out to be a great year for metro detroit wedding photographers. Creekside Acres Event Barn was only an hour away from me but this venue was far enough to give off that rustic feel. A trend that took off recently. Barn weddings. I love them!
I purposely arrived an hour early to get to know what the venue has to offer in terms of shady and scenic backdrops. Always good to know where they are when the time comes for traditional family and bridal party photos.
I arrived with the venue empty so I went to work and captured everything. The inside of the barn-decorations. The ceremony setup, etc.
Alex, along with his groomsmen were the first to arrive. We immediately got started with the traditional groomsmen group photos. Alexis arrived half an hour later so our mini-session ended abruptly.
Alexis not dressed in her wedding down gave me a good opportunity to capture the “pre” wedding preparations. Her dress (not worn). Her jewelries and accessories that she was going to put on. Lastly, the moment when she dons her beautiful wedding gown.
An hour or so into my coverage, the grandmothers made their way into her bridal suite. Their mission was to help her get into her dress. Her summer wedding dress. Alexis wanted a full coverage of her during this process so I stayed.
After a few words of encouragement from her matron of honor, she was finally ready to experience and enjoy her day. Some brides go through a few seconds of anxiety. It’s usually the maid of honor’s job to spot these moments.
Her day turned out amazing! I’ll stop narrating and show you how it went instead 🙂 Congratulation to both of you!
